I changed my starter and now my headlights will not come on, why?

First, I want to go ahead and thank anyone who takes the time to try to answer my question. Second, the latest model provided in the drop box was for a 1990 model, that is what I selected because it was the oldest. My truck is actually a 1985 GMC Jimmy 4x4 with a 305. I recently changed the starter on the truck but now my headlights will not come on. I have already checked the fuses and they all appear to be good. The starter will start the truck and it was installed according to the manual. can anyone help me out? Could the headlight switch have gone?

**1985 GMC Jimmy K1500** There is no regular fuse for the headlights! ..There is a 'fusible link' at the STARTER that you need to check FIRST!!.. IF no luck, then suspect headlight switch which also contains a circuit breaker.. Also check 'very closely' the wiring and connector that plugs into the switch for any signs of heat, melted plastic or blackened terminals.. Pigtail connector is available.. In addition, 'possible' steering column mounted dimmer switch failure. Does it click and feel normal when dimmer is actuated?
