so I go to start the vehicle and the brake feels like there is pressure against me, the key will turn but when I go to remove it, the key stays locked in the second position, I have noticed the odd time when it has started that the clock has to be reset...shows 12 am and when driving the back windshield wiper goes on once for no apparent reason, as I never turned it on
What makes this problem better or worse?
its sporadic but usually first thing in morning, once i have it going its good for the day
How long has your 2004 GMC Envoy had this problem?

Hello, ensure the shift lever is in the "park" position. If not, the key will not release from the ignition cylinder. If it is in "park" and there is good battery power, there could be another problem - mechanical or electrical - that will require further troubleshooting.
Severely discharged battery will cause all of thise problems.
