When I start my 2003 GMC envoy XL when I got to shift it into gear it will not do nothing it does not even shift and it's really easy to move the gear

GMC ENVOY XL 2003 will start up but the gear will not shift like it is stuck in park. The gear will move very easy to any thing bit will not shift like something has came loose
