If I replace camshaft position acutator sprocket, do I need to replace timing tensionor

Mechanic says I need to replace my camshaft position acutator, do I need to replace the timing tensioner as well, one mechanic says yes, I need to replace the hole timing set, the other mechanic says no, I just need to colaspe the timing tensioner, but nothing else needs replaced. I have a 2012 GMC Canyon, inline 4
