Check engine light was on. Mechanic replaced 6 spark plugs, ignition coil, gasket. Check engine light came back on next day. For the following 2 days, lift went off in the early morning and came back on in the late morning. Error code po306. Mechanic is now telling me that replacing the bad coil in cylinder 4 may have caused the coil in 6 to fail. I am wondering if the initial repairs just didn't fix the problem in the first place. Not sure what the initial error code was.

No , it was probably weak to start with .OR he switch those two coils and put new plugs in and waited to see if the coil really was bad (misfire follows coil position). But the latter part is somewhat unlikely.
I have had 5 of 6 ignition coils replaced in my 2010 Acadia over time. After #3 it was hard for GMC to not cover the 4th & 5th after warranty was out. Currently the car is exhibiting similar issues which could mean #6 (or one of the replacement coils ) is getting weak. I agree that one individual coil going bad probably has no effect on the other coils.
Thanks. As it turns out, it was 6 that he initially replaced, not 4. Hope yours holds up better than mine. I got tired of pouring $ into it and traded it in.
Thank you. I am hoping this will fix it.
