What is your question?
Hi My shifter gets hung up in park. I hear a tick from under the column - before it finally releases. I ordered the $ 40 part, but the dealer wants three hours labor to install. Any tips how to begin? I am mechanical. The dealer said the center console has to come out for access. Thanks!

The only suggestion I can make is seek *hands-on* assistance to diagnose the symptoms before trying to medicate. There are more possibilities!
Hello, the best thing to do is to get a hold of a shop manual, or access a resources such as www.alldatadiy.com . RepairPal cannot give you shop manual instructions, but in general, you remove the front floor console cover to access the solenoid. "3 hours" seems steep; there is no published labor time for this repair in labor guides (other than GM factory guides for warranty purposes). All that said -- it is more likely for the shift interlock to be contaminated with liquid or debris rather than having failed. A good exploratory inspection may be best first.
