What should a new transmission cost?

Thanks, just called a Ford dealer. Prices sound awful --over $3000

Try a salvage dealer .. Sometimes they have great prices - with warranty.

Also - IF the transmission just all of a sudden will not engage any gear and fluid level is ok (?) - it may not be all that expensive to fix the problem.
