How about reverse?
IF fluid level ok and does not engage ANY gear = torque converter failure is prime suspect. Transmission removal required ~ (beyond diy repair)

Besides Reverse, how about Manual first gear? Also, have you checked and verified the transmission fluid is full and does not smell burnt?
