I was driving onto the freeway ramp when I heard a clink sound. In seconds I started hearing my pistons clanging away because of the lack of oil. I may have striked a rock or something. I'm not sure. All I know is that it still starts but all the oil spilled out. Can someone please give me an idea of what went wrong?

leaked out where?i would not still be starting it,if no oil in it.????
Those oil pans are aluminum and need tender love and care best bet is to change it un less it is a small hole then you can get stuff from walmart called quicksteel and makaesl sure its dry and there is not any oil on it rough the surface with sand paper and spread the quicksteel on it fast and smooth it drys in 5 mins and gets hard and it takes alot of heat
Leaking form the block underneath. I had a buddy look too and he said the bolt and filter were still in place
did you knock a hole in the oil pan?
Im not sure. It happened spontaneously. No sign or lights befo re hand
if you ran that engine,even for 1 minute without oil,you have damage to internal engine.........................
It's still fine. I didn't drive on it. I just checked it. How about answering the question? How can u leak all your oil out without overheating?
the coolant,antifreeze is what circulates thru the engine to cool it,not the oil.you got lucky.
