What could be the cause of auto not shifting out of first gear?

The line to the transmission was leaking. The car was shifting okay, but was having to add at least a quart of tranny fluid each day. Fixed the line, changed the seal and filter. When test driving, the car shifted ok. Since then, it goes into reverse with no problem, and first, but will not shift out of first.
