The transmission won t engage . no matter what gear I put it in I get netural

Check the transmission fluid level with engine off, note fluid level on dip stick closley .. Next start the engine and check the fluid level again .. Did it change at all? .. It should have went 'down' on the dip stick .. Did it ? .. With that information I can give you the answer to what the problem is as it's a pretty common issue with that transmission.
