This car has been nothing but problems for us and now we cant even drive it at all. Ive had on 3 seperate occasions vacuum lines blow when driving up our steep hill to get home. replaced dpfe sensor that was blown apart one time. replaced catalytic converters. it had been sitting for almost a year with the exception of me starting it just to start it and mess around with trying to find something wrong. When idling its extremely rough, and when i take it out for the tiny .25 mile drive i do to test it, it has no power when you give it gas. today i took it out and it sounded like i blew another vacuum line, but could not find a line off or a leak anywhere. Its not throwing any codes even if i let it run for an hour. I would be appreciative with any help anyone can offer with this issue.

I towed it to the nearest dealer and it turned out to be a waste of time and money, they told me they couldnt run diagnostics without a check engine light on, and that one of my cats was broken and wanted to charge me over $3000 (no joke) to replace them all. Ive since removed the supposed broken cat and its fine.I didnt think that it sounded right because i thought they could run diagnostics without the idiot light on. Ive had a close friend who has a computer for reading and testing the engine for work, and it came back with nothing for us.
Not an answer,but sorry that you're having this much difficulty.I hope that you find the problem.My 2002 Taurus with the same engine,has been the best car that I've ever owned.It's had great maintenance,and yes,some repairs needed,but going strong with 179k on it.
