Scan test of the ABS (Antilock Brake System) should help with diagnosis on the trac cont light... The dome light switch an integral part of the door latch assembly. 'Sometimes' a good washing out with WD-40 then blowing that out with compressed air will fix the dome light problem!
Traction control uses the ABS sensors. The computer senses the speed of each wheel & when the minimum & maximum speed of the each wheel compared to the others is off , the TCS is applied https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CKtqDlC-rHs Yep, the dome lights door switch is in-part of the latch. The electrical part of this latch is on the lower back side of it, so if you can , loosen the 3 screws and remove all but one top screw ( to keep it lined up) It's connected to the actuator rods so don't worry that it might fall in. it won't With the Window up, Get some penetrating oil ( with the plastic hose on the nozzle) and try in and around the it to coat the entire latch. HERE IS ONE ON EBAY TO GIVE YOU AN IDEA SEE ALL THE PICTURES WITH IT. http://www.ebay.com/itm/00-01-02-03-TAURUS-Right-Passenger-Side-Front-Door-Lock-Latch-Actuator-Assembly-/261620227869?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Year%3A2002%7CModel%3ATaurus&hash=item3ce9c7df1d&vxp=mtr
The traction control light works, replaced the button.was told that there is a censor on the tranny that may have gone bad or a bad cannection.just wondering where it was located.check engine light is not on,but brake light is on all the time.disabled, income is limited so I try to fix myself.
You will probably have some luck with the dome light fix... However the other troubles will need a little more car savvy and equipment that 'most' DIY'ers simply don't have !!
