at times the tranny hesitates between 2nd & 3rd gears - fluid level full -

the check engine light came on & was steady - disconnected battery & after reconnecting the light went out & hasn't appeared since - just drove 50 miles without tranny hesitation, but prior to that, it hesitated twice on a short trip suggestions? thank you
