Transmission 'torque converter' splines have most likely stripped out which is very common for that transmission! .. Simple test... Check transmission fluid level with engine off... Next check transmission fluid level with engine on (running) .. Any difference in the two readings? .. Post results for more info.
Well, as long as that actually gets done and not just replacement of the torque converter.. That's not too bad.. I can't give any advice other than that as I can't inspect it myself.. Thanks for replying!
Was told its tranny checking how much it will cost to fix with mechanic's tranny guy hope it's not too much broke limited funds
Well if it was doing ok before the converter splines stripped out, might get buy with just a new 'torque converter' ... I'll bet that is what's wrong with it.. Done seen too many of em! .. ALL that needs to be done to check, is that simple little test I posted before... IF the fluid level doesn't drop when engine is running .. Converter is NOT turning the PUMP because the internal splines have been stripped!.. Very COMMON problem.. Good luck to you whatever the outcome!
I was told 1800 to rebuilt
