I have a 1998 taurus with the 24 valve dohc and am having overheating problems.

This engine is idling a little rough also when heating up to a much higher than normal level. I changed the thermostat and coolant and checked water pump but all seems to be well there. What are the chances of the knock sensor being the problem? Finding the knock sensor replacement part has been difficult locally and have had to go online to find. Expensive ! Curious as to probability.
