How can I fix a stuck gas tank float in a 1992 Ford Taurus?

My fuel gauge on the dash indicates that gas has been put in tank. The car went from accepting fuel to fill and slowly down to where it is now. I used a hose with funnel to put gas in tank manually and it overflowed at approx two gallons. Everything else is working well.

you have a vent hose clogged/pinched or a bad vent valve/solenoid not switching.
