Ac works then stops.

IF problem is more pronounced while stopped - engine idling - possibly radiator cooling fan issue .. Sufficient air flow must be maintained for proper a/c cooling. Vehicle may be equipped with electronic a/c condenser fan - that needs to be considered as well. Good luck!
