Yes, we did check it. I believe that we might have got the idea to check it from reading your site the night before. my husband found it and yes it was broken and would not reset. After he took it off he came in and showed it to me and shook it and it rattled
So he changed that and the connector. It didn't make a difference and it's hard to tell if it's getting no spark or no fuel. Which is the problem and which is just the result of the other. Money is tight right now so we aren't able to spend until we feel it is going to help for fear we will be out of time and money by the time we narrow it down to the right thing. Thanks so much for getting back to us, we will be back out at the truck again today to try and locate something else to try.
Becnlar..
Have hubby remove gas cap and listen at fuel filler neck for fuel pump to turn on for 2 seconds when you turn the key on .. Should here pump buzzing for 2 second prime .. Turn key off and try this again as needed to confirm .. That is where you should start troubleshooting! .. Post results... I'll need engine size as well.
Ok, good idea. We are just about to go out there now when I just saw your answer. He wanted me to go with him to double check some things because he said it that when he hit wires it directly to a 12v and by passes the ignition switch then he does hear the pump come on and it stays on as long as he has juice to it. So it doesn't come on for just the 2 seconds because its not getting the pulse for the pressure when he does it that way. The engine also turned over yesterday when he hot wired it. So today we were going to take out the ignition switch and have it tested or just replace it anyway because its not that expensive. So with me out there with him he will go and get right down close to listen for the pump while I do the other part for him.
Thanks again and we will let you know this afternoon probably the outcome of all of today's efforts and ideas. We have to do it early or late cuz it's running around 105 to 110 degrees here on a daily basis.
Thanks,
Becky n Larry
Don't forget about the fuel pump relay in the under hood fuse/relay box .. Owners manual is great source of info on fuses and relays! .. Full index is in back of book.
