I know nothing about this, but I did find this on a Ford Forum.I know a while back that I only removed my instrument cluster on my ole truck(instructions said disconnect battery, wait 5 minutes for capacitor discharge, well I waited 1 hour!) Found this below "When any deployable device or combination of devices are deployed and/or the restraints control module (RCM) has the DTC B1231 (Event Threshold Exceeded) in memory, the repair of the vehicle's SRS is to include the removal of all deployed devices and the installation of new deployable devices, the removal and installation of new impact sensors, and the removal and installation of a new RCM. DTCs must cleared from all required modules after repairs are carried out." "When the driver air bag module has deployed, a new clockspring must be installed." "New driver and/or front passenger safety belt systems (including retractors, buckles and height adjusters) must be installed if the vehicle is involved in a collision that results in deployment of the driver and/or front passenger safety belt pretensioners."
SRS module - 'applicable' impact sensors - affected seatbelt pre-tensioners.
That’s standard procedure .. Airbags may deploy upon battery re-connect if system is not properly repaired! You’ll be working with components that contain pyrotechnic compositions (explosives) so be careful.. Safety is no accident. The above are all the recommendations I will make : Maybe find a Ford airbag forum on Google search and read .
Be sure to disconnect the battery prior to repair - wait 20 minutes for capacitor discharge. Be careful ! Good luck. (Professional installation recommended)
do you need the srs module and the impact sensors
