3.0,U, code 401,egr system fault,5 probable causes,best way to find answer

it could be the dpfe sensor.if yours is metal,its the original one.replacement is plastic.it has 2 small hoses attached to it,going out to egr pipe to exaust.another common thingy on the fords that give you the same code would be the egr passages are completly stopped up with very hard black carbon.if you google this,you will find a very good picture of what i am talking about,and detailed instructions on how to clean.you ain't gonna spray it out,and you wont believe it when you see the picture.someone i know had this code for 8 months. they finally removed the throttle body,and was shocked about how bad it was,no air at all getting thru.
