Difficulty depressing the clutch pedal is telltale some-thing is wrong!
Nothing to do but have firewall reinforced then replacement of all defective clutch components will be required.
This task is well beyond the average DIYer’s capability and as for firewall reinforcement most likely the majority of auto repair facilities.

A shop that’s know to excel at fabrication is best bet - maybe auto body repair..
I find it better just to add a steel plate to existing firewall without removal of any of the original material..
