have you checked the vacuum line on the fuel pressure regulator for leaks?if no leaks pull the vacuum line off the regulator, and check for any signs of fuel in the vacuum line.if there is,regulator is bad, replace it.if that checks out ok,you will need to test the fuel pressure, maybe failing pump.
when you turn the key to on,not start, the pump should prime(humm)for 2 seconds, then turn off.you should have 35-45 psi on the test port on the fuel rail(schrader valve).every time you turn the key to on,the fuel pump will prime for 2 seconds, then turn off.the when cranking, and the computer sees engine rpm the fuel pump comes back on and runs all the time until you turn engine off the again.the humm sound may be a low sound.get a helper to turn key to on,remove the fuel cap, hold ear next to fuel filler and listen for swirling or humm noise in the fuel tank.if you hear it the pump is priming the line, every time key is turned from off to run,not start.
Alright thanks, one last question, someone I know had mentioned a compression test. Other than a rough idle the car runs and drives great, would this be a good ideal and could it be a compression issue
None that we found (by following the line with our hand) and it's the 2.3, we had replaced the head on it about two months ago

Alright, is the pump suppose to make a sound when you turn the key to start the engine, I have read some say yes and some say no
