Just had front and rear brakes done this week. Have been having brakes checked regularly to avoid needing new rotors and was irritated when told rear rotors needed. Service advisor explained Ford went cheap and uses non-vented rotors on rear and so rear almost always requires new rotors. Front are vented and were able to be machined. Says non-vented rotors get hotter and so usually aren't salvageable.
that is a good choice , and also to reply to the other response - Just because the rotors are 'non-vented' , does not mean they cannot be re-surfaced , the measured thickness and the (legal) minimum thickness specs(by manufacturer) are what would determine that , along with how badly warped they are.
RepairPal Certified shops can diagnose and repair your 2011 Ford Fusion. They provide transparent pricing with a minimum 12-month or 12,000-mile warranty on repairs and services.
Thanks for the reply. The dealer I go to also charges $40 to get the brakes checked so I have decided I am going to go somewhere else.

Right, but the dealer indicated that it is less likely due to the additional heat. Not impossible to machine, just less likely. Do you disagree?
Without seeing the rotors 'first-hand' , I would have to go with the dealers recommendation , if they have been badly overheated.
