What is your question?
I have a 2008 Ford Focus SE. Automatic transmission. Roughly 162,000 miles. I live in the mountains in East Tennessee. When I drive down the interstate and it's most noticeable when I drive uphill, I feel shuddering starting at 50 and is really noticeable at 70 mph. Gets worse when going faster. CV axles have been replaced, motor and transmission mounts were replaced, new tires with alignment and balance, rim's aren't bent, transmission fluid is red and not dirty... i am getting aggravated and I'm about to give up. Tired of spending money and possibly trading it if it won't stop. Anything else it could be? Torque converter? Take it to the dealership? I don't want to give up on it
What makes this problem better or worse?
Going faster on the interstate
How long has your 2008 Ford Focus had this problem?
3 months
IF check engine light is on or has been on - possible engine misfire causing this concern. Possibly out of round tire OR tire imbalance - *ROAD FORCE* balancing is recommended. This balancing method exerts road force pressure on the tire as it is being balanced - will reveal OOR tire or imbalance. Don’t give up on it ... Good luck!
No check engine light. I rotated the tires and it is still there. I'll probably look into taking it to the dealership.
Just be aware that many a seasoned auto repair technician has been fooled into thinking mechanical shudder by engine misfire ! Ever replaced any of the 4 ignition coils on this ‘2008’ vehicle ? .. CEL may not illuminate. Just saying. One more question - has knowledgeable mechanic test driven vehicle with a high quality / professional scan tool connected and set to cylinder contribution so live misfire data can be observed ? I surely wish I could get my hands on your vehicle for 30 minutes! ... I suppose I just don’t understand why this has been such a difficult diagnosis to make when the means for successful troubleshooting are readily available - but then I guess 46 + years in the business helps as well. Hope ya get it figured out.
