The clutch that's used to open the hood came loose. It has always been difficult to open. Is this expensive to fix?

yes, the grip handle.

If enough cable is still exposed, buy a 'small' pair of vice grip plires and lock them on the cable.. It not like you'll be using it every time you drive the car.. Otherwise you are probably looking at close to $100.00 to get it fixed.. I'm just guessing at that price.. Could be more!
