How to clean a EGR valve for a 2006 f-150 4.2 liter 6 cylinder efi?

unplug electrical connector,loosen the nut on the pipe that goes down,remove the 2 bolts that hold it on. if you are getting a po401 code,you may have to remove the throttle body and clean out the ports on it,carbon build-up. if the ports are clogged,you will have to dig it out with a screwdriver or whatever to get it all out.spray the egr valve out real good,may need a little brush of some type.let it dry,re-install.if the gasket on the egr valve is ok,you can re-use it or buy another one.if the tb is removed,buy a new gasket.
