it also happened to my 95 ford Thunderbird. it only has 31,000 miles. it is a 3.8 v6. 40th anniversary car. it got into the #1 cylinder .
on the 97 f150 it is a 4.2 v6. it got into the back cylinders. i changed the rod in it because it was bent. not knowing what caused the problem. other than the water in the cylinder.
the f150 was a driver. drove it all the time.. around here it is mostly 65mpg hwy. also we have some mountains & a lot of mountain roads.
i replaced the rod before about a year ago it lasted for about 6 months & it happened again. so it has been sitting.
the t-bird we just bought it from a local lady. her grandmother just died & it was her car. it sat for the last 4 years cuz of the engine.
any more info .. just let me know
thank you
Other than hydro-locked from coolant (blown head gasket) , or running through a puddle and water getting past the air filter etc. , I'm at a loss as to why you'd get a bent rod. Need to have an EXPERIENCED local professional (the oldest old man at the oldest independent garage in town type) look at it BEFORE tear-down , if it happens again.
is there any way to fix it?
Fix what? Didn't determine what(if anything) is 'broke' yet. No answer to my original question.
