What is your question?
I recently replaced a bad battery. Very shortly after that the alternator failed - not charging. A local repair shop replaced the alternator with a new Bosch alternator. The truck IS charging and running well, but the battery light does not come on in self-test (while turning the key in the 'start' position). The bulb for the indicator is good - I pulled the instrument panel out and replaced it. I've checked fuse 19 - it's good and I replaced it as well. Still no light.

Alternator is responsible for providing final battery light operations.. ((That circuitry can be tested)) I have also had this go in the opposite direction - light would not turn off but the replacement alternator was charging just fine.. This was fixed by installing a NAPA - ‘POWER SUPREME’ alternator! Of course not every failure will be the same - this suggestion is asked on personal experience. Good luck!
Typo - (predictive text?) “this suggestion is BASED on personal experience”.. Typically the internal alternator voltage regulator is the culprit.. *Carefully check the alternator wiring and the wiring ‘connector’ as well*. Additionally when I repair a vehicle - I always confirm the problem is properly fixed before releasing the vehicle back to the customer! I do not know the situation nor circumstances but perhaps you should contact the installer.
Hey pushrod: Thanks for the reply. I found the problem: the guy that installed the alternator pulled on the 3-pin alternator connector and broke the connection internally for the battery light! I traced back the line and I have power at the primary fuse block....so I'm off to the auto parts store to splice in a new 3-pin connector. Thanks again for the reply !
NAPA should have the connector / pigtail - - if you have a problem finding one. It’s a pretty commonly damaged / failure item.. Glad you figured it out!
