I have a 91 Ford F150 that has no power going to the coil.

I got the truck about a week ago. I had to change the coil to get it home. When i was driving it the check engine light came on. I parked it in the garage and now i have no power to the coil. It will turn over but will not start. The fuel pump is working and i tried to jump the coil to the battery and that did nothing. What is wrong? i am very frustrated...
