My 2005 Ford explorer the charging system light keeps coming on

Charging light keeps coming on and dinging and my voltage will drop down and right back up, and now my lights dim almost completely off and when I accelerate the car is very sluggish not wanting to go over 30mph had it checked and all reads fine what could this be
