What causes low coolant, chirping when accelerating and then not starting

Saturday noticed smell after 200 miles in heat so checked coolant, it was low so filled, drove 100 miles in heat and car started chirping when accelerating, Sunday drove in cool time of day ran fine 100 miles, then 200 miles in heat chirping again (really load after long drive). Monday morning sounded a little chirping in the cool air, load chirp when accelerating and sounded really load after 30 minutes. Monday afternoon car wont start. When I turn key dash lights come on, but will not start.
