Can the relay be removed after installing a push button to start the vehicle?

I installed a push button to start my 2004 Ford Explorer and the vehicle started missing and will not go past 2 rmps. I was told that I could remove the ecm relay totally and it would fix all the missing problem and get the truck running perfect. I need to know if would work or not can you please help?
