I had to put on a Explorer XLS tailgate no power to license plate lights

No power.... 'TEST' the fuses FIRST .. 'ALL' of the fuses! .. IF other door locks and park lights are working.. possible broken wires inside the flex wire loom at top of gate... Depending on how you swapped it all out (?) .. All working ok before gate install??
