Spedometer stops working then works again jerking the tranny.

My odometer stopped working completely then the next day my spedometer started jumping up and down then going to zere when it goes to zero the truck starts jumping and not wanting to go into gear or it drops gears and wont go back into ghear until the spedometer start working again and then when the spedometer goes from zero to the mileage Im really going it rides ok for a lil while then the spedometer acts up again causing my truck to jerk again. When I let off the gas the spedometer drops completely back down to zero abruptly not gradually.
