If it is running rough at HIGH RPM's and not low RPM's, you're most likely misfiring. Have a shop do a "Cylinder Contribution Test" and see which cylinder is causing your problem. Then diagnose the faulty cylinder accordingly. The most common cause of high RPM misfires on this vehicle are the ignition coils or problems in the VVT system. Good luck!
check all the vacuum hoses.look/check the one in the rear of the intake manifold, bad to split, crack at elbow, also the other end where it hooks to the PCV valve.also, check your spark plugs for excessive spark plug gap also! you would be very surprised how wide the GAP will get without throwing a code.worked on one the other day>a 4.6L.gap should be .054(.052-.056) and i checked them as taken out..some were as much as .082,this will cause you're coils to go out also and run bad. don't know which engine you have?4.6L or 5.4L?..but be VERY VERY careful when removing the plugs and installing the new ones,if changing them!!!
