Hello, I own a 1997 Ford Expedition and I would like to know what is the best top battery post terminal connector to use. The aluminum breaks when I overtightening.

NAPA has a bronze battery cable repair terminal that uses a compression nut to securely clamp the cable inside the battery post clamp - it cost a bit more but is well worth it!
see pushrods answer for best advice verses spending over $100.00 for new cables for both pos and neg cables with connectors attached. 21 years old, time, loosening and tightening/over tightening is what causes this. most don't realize all you want is to snug them, not torque em.I had a problem on my F150 from previous owner 12 years ago on the neg terminal, but wasn't broken, just not snug,so I loosened it all the way up,turned it over(upside down),gently tap it onto post, snug it up because the top of that terminal is smaller than the bottom of it,works like a charm,no problem with positive terminal so far.my sons 91 civic terminals collapsed on his battery post(all the way tight, but loose) ,but not broke so he made him a piece at work to put inside the terminal, works like a new one!
oh,by the way,the reason the connector/terminal is smaller at the top is because it's tapered just like the battery post....
