What is your question?
I heard rattling from the engine and thought it was the a/c compressor. I kept driving and check engine light came on. I checked battery, alternator, water pump, and power steering pump. They were all good. Then another block and the belt shreaded and spinned off but didnt snapp in half.

You can remove the belt from the AC compressor. I don't think the compressor or the belt caused the check engine light to come on. I would scan the computer for see what going on.
agree with answer #1.while the belt is off, check all pulleys and try and find the one thats hard to turn or making a noise.that belt did't just shread for no reason, one of your pulleys is not working correctly.but if you are 100% sure that it's the A/C doing this and you don't want to fix it,they sell an A/C bypass pulley, you have to remove the compressor and bolt this pulley in its place,(but remember it's fixin to be summer time).that way you don't have to go guessing at lenght of belt to buy,use the one that the vehicle calls for.i;m sure you had more lights come on when the belt came off,get cel checked and post findings.
