Its leaking transmission fluid frm the seal that connects the engine to transmission...would that be the front pump seal or something else?

It could be , but that could also end up being an expensive wrong guess! Best to clean area thoroughly and put a 'tracer dye' in it and check with an ultra violet light and glasses to verify the source first.

If trans fluid is leaking from the bell housing , then yes it would be the front pump seal or pump o-ring. You can't see it. You will have to pull the trans and inspect. Look for wear on the torque converter and the bushing in the pump.
