So my ford escort will not turn over, I really don't know at this point what it could be I've checked the timing that's good✔ then I replace all 4 sparkplugs since 1 was looking pretty damaged I replaced them all and the coil pack, still not starting...yup so I figured I replace the ICM (ignition control module ) still no start, new battery was installed still not a complete start, what could it be??? This problem occurred when I drove my car home to (R.I) from Massachusetts...mind you I needed a oil change but drove it anyway as I got back I parked my car for a hour then at start it was running roughly and my friend decided to add a quart of oil after shutting down the vehicle for 10 minutes I tried starting it and that's when it didn't ever start again
Timing belt was replaced a year ago but I did have it checked out a week ago just for the heck of it, everything looked good as for the water pump I haven't checked it out, I did notice as I was fueling up my car the last time I used it gas was dripping from under my car I'm looking into replacing the filler tube next yes it has spark from plug wires
Keep in mind the water pump is timing belt driven! .. I'll explain the significance of that if needed .. Also, have you checked the *inertia switch* to see if it has tripped off and needs to be reset??
Where is the inertia switch located?...my dad said that the water pump is good it didn't need to be changed no leaks the car has 109,000miles on it, it was barely driven over 5miles a day till my lead foot boyfriend started driving it lol :( it's a little late so I'm going to fuel up the car in the morning I'm thinking that there's not much gas in the tank as I remember towing it gas was leaking out
Inertia switch is listed in the owners manual as the > Fuel Pump Cut Off Switch .. That fuel leak needs to be repaired ASAP! .. IF it's outta gas, that will certainly keep it from starting! .. Let us know what you find.
Well I have this little red blinking lite that's located just below the steering wheel I usually have to use a remote that disarms the lite in order to drive is that the inertia switch?
No, that's the aftermarket alarm that need to be in the trash can!! .. I assume you don't have the owners manual so .. Google > inertia switch ford escort (you posted 2 different year models) then view the results page.. First make sure there's gas in tank .. Check inertia switch .. Remove alarm and toss it in garbage! .. Good luck with it!
