do the transmission positions light up near the shift knob?

We purchased a used 2018 Escape yesterday and noted that the gear position does not light up when we change the gear from park to drive, etc. Is it supposed to? I am talking about the indicators next to the gear shit knob, not the cluister display.

*2018* Ford Escape: No gear indicator lamps are provided on the console (shifter) - a few years back they were present - not sure what date they were discontinued. Reference ‘instrument cluster‘ for gear selection indicators.
