Loud clunk from rear when going over bumps

What is your question?

Loud bump like something is loose and getting knocked around thought it might be spare tire loose in compartment but it's not. Had it up on hoist to check out brakes...never heard it till after that. Heard it mildly yesterday for first time progressively worse today much louder metallic clunk when going over bumps and up driveways. As far as I can tell nothing is leaking.

What makes this problem better or worse?
