My 2003 Ford Escape isn't overheating but my gauge is reading hot. What could it be?

As a rule of thumb - when the temperature gauge reads hot - the engine is equally hot. Recommend **hands-on** testing by qualified personnel.

You should have it checked out. Maybe an air restriction at radiator, or t-stat not opening fully opening..
