Normally this problem is in the reverse - cools while in motion - but - not while stopped .. That particular set if symptoms would be indicative of an inoperative radiator / air conditioner condenser cooling fan - - insufficient air flow into the engine bay while stopped. This issue is ‘possibly’ resulting from a low refrigerant charge that is allowing the low pressure switch to turn off the a/c compressor as system pressures drop with increased engine rpms.. In any event *hands-on* testing will be required to discover the actual failure. Good luck!
The “COMPRESSOR AND FAN RUN OK” while they can be observed - maybe not so much while driving.. Additionally - IF air simply STOPS blowing from the dash VENTS and is switching to the defroster vents upon acceleration - that is another problem altogether.. One of the biggest disadvantages of offering online automobile troubleshooting and repair advice is the lack of details received and the inability to experience the problems first hand.. That leaves a best guess as our only option.
