If your car is not turning on or starting you need to check battery voltage first. If you have lights that are coming on for no reason this could be draining the battery and causing the no crank situation. You could have something shorted or a bad module causing these lights to stay on for no reason. An electrical mechanic will have to perform some testing to find out exactly what's going on. Here is a link to find a shop near you. Alex
the interior light comes on by itself even after the car has been turned off for hrs. I doubt it has anything to do with the battery.
I'm not saying the battery is making the light come on. You mentioned the car the car would not turn on. I am suggesting that the light staying on may be draining the battery and causing it not to start. Alex
Possible door jamb switch(s) sticking .if it is sticking open, then the car thinks the door is open and interior lights come on and drain the battery.should be one on each door. if this is the problem, spray the switch(s) with wd-40,work switch in/out several times to free up the switch from sticking. google this part # for a picture>MOTORCRAFT "SW5855" ,RockAuto.com,$22.99 each plus $2.99 shipping for one if needed.
Should have a dome light override switch - use it until repairs can be completed by qualified personnel.
can you direct me to the place in the door where this switch is located?
some older model vehicles have a plunger type switch, very easy to see/get to,the newer vehicles switch is behind the door latch on the door and not visible unless the inside door panel is removed. try spraying a generous amount of wd-40 into the latch(s),open and close the door(s) a few times to try and free it up from sticking.I believe that part # I sent you is for the rear hatch and not the doors,sorry....
