a 2013 Edge that has interior lights come on while sitting dormant for hrs

If your car is not turning on or starting you need to check battery voltage first. If you have lights that are coming on for no reason this could be draining the battery and causing the no crank situation. You could have something shorted or a bad module causing these lights to stay on for no reason. An electrical mechanic will have to perform some testing to find out exactly what's going on. I'm not saying the battery is making the light come on. You mentioned the car the car would not turn on. I am suggesting that the light staying on may be draining the battery and causing it not to start. Alex

Possible door jamb switch(s) sticking .if it is sticking open,then the car thinks the door is open and interior lights come on and drain the battery.should be one on each door. if this is the problem,spray the switch(s) with wd-40,work switch in/out several times to free up the switch from sticking. google this part # for a picture>MOTORCRAFT "SW5855" ,RockAuto.com,$22.99 each plus $2.99 shipping for one if needed.

Should have a dome light override switch - use it until repairs can be completed by qualified personnel.
