VERY good possibility the radiator fans aren't working and that will certainly cause the symptoms you described.
These fans give some problems - especially on that vehicle.

Fans are available aftermarket as an assembly - this includes the fan control module .. There is a fuse in under hood fuse block that ‘might’ possibly be blown - however every one of these I have repaired turned out to be the fan assembly itself.
Monitor engine temperature as well !
