VA State Inspection Question

What is your question?

I live in Virginia and need to get my vehicle state inspection renewed (2008 Ford Edge SE). Would a check engine light prohibit me from being approved? The code is P0420 - catalytic converter. I need the inspection, but I don't have the money to replace the converter right now. Thanks for your assistance.

That far up in northern Virginia it will likely not pass - I’m thinking tail pipe testing is required. Down here in southwest (near Roanoke) it doesn’t matter.. Now keep in mind you can get your vehicle inspected at any Virginia state inspection station Just saying - might be something to consider at this time. Good luck!

BTW - I had the Virginia state inspection license for 30 years .. Just recently retired - - just to let you know.
