What is your question?
So this morning my 2007 Ford Edge turned on fine and stayed on for about a minute. Then the engine suddenly revs up repeatedly while I'm cleaning off the snow and then dies. I started it again and it ran for about 30 seconds and then the RPM shot up to 2k and then down to ~250. It repeated this a few times and died again. After turning it on 2 more times it heated up enough where it could move if I only accelerated lightly from idle and it seems to be fine when it's in motion. The drive to school wasn't enough to heat the engine to higher temps to see if that helped. This is an automatic car with lots of miles and it just had the transmission replaced. It happened once the temp dove below -5 C (about 21 F) overnight. I am leaving the car on campus for now and waiting until the temperatures rise above freezing in hopes to be able to move it then and to try and prevent as much damage as possible. If you have any idea what could be going on please let me know, and thanks in advance
What makes this problem better or worse?
It's worse when the engine is cold and when in idle
How long has your 2007 Ford Edge had this problem?
Something similar happened last time it snowed but not this severe

The most reliable and cost effective way to approach this concern is by having qualified personnel perform the required *hands-on* testing while engine is COLD .. This will involve leaving vehicle at repair facility overnight so the necessary testing can be performed while problem is present. Would be glade to post a list of the possibilities, however that isn't beneficial as the same testing procedure will still be required for each one.. The vast majority of owners or DIYer's do not possess the ability noe equipment to complete this task.
