motorcraft part #YH-1665 vacuum motor exactly what is it's function

The problem is that u have turn something underneath the dash to get the heat to bloe thru the floor vents and reverse the process in the spring to get ac to blow thru ac vents. Other than that the heat5 works fine as does the AC. Thanks Gary
