What is your question?
Last summer I went to a party and got hammered. I woke up got in my car and went to drive away and I noticed the radio wasn't working. I continue going down the road and notice the clock isn't working, the dome lights don't work, the clock doesn't work, the trunk light doesn't work, my cigarette lighter/cellphone charger stopped working, the outside rear view mirror adjuster doesnt work and also the rear right brake light and turn signal all stopped working at the same time. Basically none of the interior electrical components work other than the lights that show me theyre there at night. Even the numbers on the radio glow but the radio itself doesnt work. I've went a year without it working and have compensated the radio with a blue tooth speaker but I'd like to be able to fix it. Whatever the root of the problem is I'm sure when fixed will fix everything, the only fuses I've checked were to the radio and back right turn signal and they're both fine. Please help.
What makes this problem better or worse?
Nothing changes it, other than the one time I got super lucky and a cop was right behind me when I needed to make a right turn and the blinker worked one time then and only then since it stopped.
How long has your 1997 Ford Contour had this problem?
A year

You only "checked" two fuses and they "looked fine"? No not looked fine! MUST test all fuses in BOTH fuse boxes with a TEST light, both sides of each fuse. Most vehicles have two fuses for the radio anyways, one is hot at all times and one is switched. Test ALL of the fuses,NOT HAMMERED, NO Moonshine just yet!
IF you're unfamiliar with testing ALL of the fuses using a simple test light, as already suggested - it is highly recommended to seek *hands-on* assistance from savvy personnel.
I'll give this one more try.. There are multiple fuses located about the vehicle - some inside the car - some under the hood .. Each and every one of these fuses needs to be TESTED with the key on using a 12 volt TEST LIGHT .. It is pretty obvious you are unfamiliar with the procedure - that's ok - there are others that can do this for you - seek out more qualified personnel..
ok dude, it's fucking hundreds of dollars some of us can't throw Willy nilly at professionals who could easily lie to me and I'd have no idea. is it so hard to feign a little sympathy for people who aren't super inclined on electrical problems? I'm just trying to get some answers dude chill.
buying this ford was a huge mistake in the first place. the electrical system hasn't worked in over a year and I fixed the lower ball joint and did an alignment cause it'd blow tires in less than a month, then a break line blew, tried splicing that and it didn't work so that's atleast a 1000 dollar fix cause my mechanic won't just replace one it has to be all, the valve gasket leaked and I replaced the grahmet and tube seals and spark plugs and I left for fort leonardwood and came back 3 months later to now find out I gotta p0301 and that needs to be fixed the most so fuck the radio I guess. the car would be better off scrapped melted and recycled into new parts for better cars tbh.
if you know how to copy and paste the link below, then start on page 151,and do like pushrod stated.... https://justgivemethedamnmanual.com/ford/1997-ford-contour-owners-manual/
I'm not even sure what the other radio fuse would be, all I see is one on the fuse diagram. Could you please tell me all fuse numbers I should check?
